One of the most luxurious spirits in the world Louis XIII Cognac has added another notch to their belt of uniqueness. How have they done it? Louis XIII Cognac has announced a film – 100 Years: The Movie You Will Never See – and, as you can guess, you’ll probably never see it.

100 Years: The Movie You Will Never See is a movie starring actor John Malkovich which imagines planet Earth one hundred years into the future. In the true style of Louis XIII Cognac, the film isn’t going to hit cinemas until November 18, 2115. The idea of the film and the timing of its release are inspired by the fact that it takes a century of patience and careful craftmanship to create each decanter of the Cognac.

Louis XIII is a true testament to the mastery of time, and we sought to create a proactive piece of art that explores the dynamic relationship of the past, the present, and the future. Four generations of cellar masters put a lifetime of passion into a bottle of Louis XIII, yet they will never taste the resulting masterpiece. We are thrilled that this talented actor and creative filmmaker were inspired to join us on this artistic endeavor.”

Can you imagine what the world will be 100 Years into the future?

I’m sure you’ve thought about it at least once or twice. Or, at the very least, wondered if you’ll still be alive to try to watch this film. Well the people in charge of the ‘100 Years’ film thought about it a lot. So much so that they made thre different teasers for the film, all showing a differet type of Earth one hundred years from now.

The first teaser portrays an earth overrun by nature a hundred years from now –

The second teaser envisions an earth ruled far more technolgically advanced than where we are today –

The third teaser takes a more anarchical approach, showing us a future where the world is controlled by humanoid robots and humans have to fight to survive

Makes you think a little, right? Which do you think is the most likely to happen? Will the world ever really become this technologically advanced? Will global warming finally wipe us all out? Or will rapture finally happen before the hundred years are up? I for one would love to see this movie, but Louis XIII Cognac has given one thousand people around the world exclusive invites for their descendants to see the film when it finally premieres in 2115. So, some people’s (great) grand children will get to go see this potentially awesome film at the House of Louis XIII in Cognac, France.

Where is this film now?

Locked away. The film has been placed in a state-of-the-art, custom made safe created in partnership with Fichet-Bauche, a distinguished French company, established in 1825, and a world-leader in secure storage facilities. The safe features a revolutionary timer that records the time and date upon closure and counts down one hundred years.  Once the hundred-year countdown is complete, the safe will automatically open – regardless of whether or not there is a power source.

This one is hard for me because I want to be hyped, but it’s hard to be hyped about something you’re not going to get to see. At the same time, it’s an ingenius way of passing down the Cognac’s legacy to a whole other generation a century down the line.
