January is always a great time for reinvention.  The idea of beginning a new year focused and generally being an improved version of yourself is almost addictive.  From trying to stick to that pesky diet that you inevitably give up on after a week, to revamping your look by decluttering your wardrobe; it's a great…

January is always a great time for reinvention.  The idea of beginning a new year focused and generally being an improved version of yourself is almost addictive.  From trying to stick to that pesky diet that you inevitably give up on after a week, to revamping your look by decluttering your wardrobe; it’s a great excuse to do all the things you’ve been putting off for the other 11 months of the year!

But wait, before you frantically run off to throw out clothing you’re 100% likely to regret later, read on to see our guide to some of the 2016 trends that will live on into 2017.

The Palazzo Pants

Perfect for our tropical climate, the palazzo style is a staple piece that should be in every woman’s wardrobe. Generally lightweight and loose, they look great in both plain and printed fabrics and are ideal either dressed up or when part of a low-key look

The Sheer

Even though in Nigeria we can’t go as sheer as our international counterparts, you can be sure that our interpretation of sheer isn’t going anywhere soon.  Be it lace, chiffon or macramé styles, anything that gives a tantalising glimpse of skin will remain a key style choice in 2017.  And best of all is that you can be as risqué as you dare by donning anything from a keeping-it-safe chiffon top, to going all out and wearing a sheer lace dress!

The Co-ord

A no-brainer when it comes to dressing up, the co-ord is a modern-day woman’s dress.  Perfect when you don’t want to put too much thought into dressing up, co-ords are not only easy, but are extremely fashion forward. The best part? The variations are endless. From long sleeves, short sleeves and halters to shorts, trousers or skirts; you can choose the co-ord style that suits you. Here’s to continued easy dressing!

The CulottesSTYD N6,800

Another one of our favourites, culottes have been making a style comeback since 2014.  Culottes, the modern definition of which means “knee length trousers or shorts”, have taken many forms with their revival. Varying from super wide-leg above the knee styles; to 7/8 styles that almost resemble too-short trousers, one thing they all have in common is that they are uber comfortable to wear. Amen to that!
