On a hot Saturday afternoon, I received a phone call from a friend, who asked to have a meeting. We were looking for a place we could talk business, eat and do some light research, so free WiFi was essential. After a bit of investigation online, we decided on Breakfast Lunch Dinner (BLD) by Play  on Admiralty Way, Lekki. The restaurant has paired up with Nuli, a healthy juice and smoothie bar. It has two floors, an outdoor restaurant upstairs and the indoor restaurant below.

The restaurant was quite empty, perfect for a private meeting with no distractions. The staff were quite attentive as they immediately pointed us towards the buffet, which didn’t seem exciting as the food options were quite limited. Instead we ordered smoothies from Nuli and the American breakfast with some BBQ chicken wings from a tattered menu that had seen better days.

My friend had a berrylicious, while I ordered a mint apple smoothie. Being lactose intolerant I was delighted to have the option of replacing the yogurt with apple but seeing as they had no apple, I had watermelon instead. Although the smoothie was relatively nice and fresh, an obvious banana taste was detected even when the ingredients did not include banana. –I was later told that it could have been the aftertaste from the previous smoothie before mine. Bit of a concern.

The American breakfast comprised of three pancakes and two sunny-side up eggs with an option of either two sausages or two bacon strips. This combination was fantastic as the eggs were well done, with a pinch of salt; the pancake was fluffy and not thin. Although I would have preferred to have the option of one strip of bacon and one sausage, overall I found the meal very satisfying. Also the WiFi apparently only works upstairs, so we ended up using our phones as hotspots.American breakfast

We finished off with the BBQ chicken wings, which were perhaps the best BBQ wings I have had in while. It was good for sharing, as we split the meal into three pieces each. The chicken was a perfect combination of spice and pepper, not too sweet and a tad bit fiery!

I ate: The American Breakfast & BBQ chicken wings

I drank: Mint apple smoothie

It cost: N5200
